North Gyeongsang Province (current)
North Gyeongsang Province, in eastern South Korea, is largely surrounded by mountains: the Taebaek Mountains in the east and the Sobaek Mountains in the west. It is the homeland of the former kingdom of Silla and has retained much of its cultural tradition, especially arround Gyeongju, the site of its ancient capital. Its current emblem is a blue and white lozenge shape with or without its name, Gyeongsangbuk-do, displayed in Korean Han'gul script underneath it.
