Lazio
Lazio in central Italy is the third most populated and the second richest region of Italy. It includes Rome, the capital. The emblem, adopted in 1984 and changed slightly in 1986, is an octagon fimbriated in gold with nine fields. Four of them represent the Italian colours and the five others the coats of arms of the five provinces of the region in saltire. This is surrounded by laurel and olive branches and surmounted by a golden crown, placed on a sky-blue field with the words “Regione Lazio” in gold.
