The mural of Che Guevara (1928 – 1967), the Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, military theorist and major figure of the Cuban Revolution, with the words Hasta la Victoria Siempre (Ever onward to victory); his stylised visage (from Alberto Korda’s famous photograph taken in 1960) has become a famous countercultural symbol of rebellion in popular culture. It is on the Ministry of the Interior building on the Plaza de la Revolución, opposite the José Martí Memorial.
