Republic of West-Papua, 1971

The “Morning Star flag”, designed by Nicolaas Jouwe, adopted on 20 November 1961 was adopted by the Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM, Organisation for a Free Papua) in December 1963. On 1 July 1971 a “Republic of West-Papua” was declared and adopted this flag as its National Flag.
