Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu, 1846
The Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu was formed after the First Anglo-Sikh War of 1845-46, between the British and the Sikh Empire, which asserted sovereignty over Kashmir. It comprised all of present-day Indian Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Pakistani Azad Kasmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and two Chinese-occupied areas. Its flag was plain red, with a swallow-tail.
