Bhaktapur, Nepal’s best-preserved old city

Bhairavnath Temple

The Bhairavnath Temple on the southern side of Taumadhi Square. It is dedicated to Bhairab, the fearsome incarnation of Shiva, whose consort occupies the Nyatapola Temple across the square. The three-storied temple, originally constructed by King Jagat Jyoti Malla, was later remodelled by King Bhupatindra Malla, who ruled from 1696 to 1722.
