Khövsgöl aimag

Khövsgöl aimag

Khövsgöl province is the northernmost of Mongolia; its name is derived from Lake Khövsgöl, the country’s largest freshwater lake by volume. The new flag is light blue with three wavy white lines at the bottom, standing for the waters of the lake; on a yellow sun in the centre, with an ornamental border, is the name of the aimag in stylised old Mongolian script, with a “tug”, traditional banner of circular arranged horse or yak tail hair at the top and a lotus flower at the bottom.
