Ssanggyesa Temple, South Gyeongsang Province

Inside Myeongbujeon

At the centre of the altar in Myeongbujeon hall is Jijangbosal, who is said to deliver creatures from the underworld. To his left and right are the ten kings who pass judgments on people's fate befitting their deeds of good and evil. This building was constructed by the Buddhist Saint Seongan in 1687 during the reign of the Joseon king Sukjong and repaired in 1710 by the Buddhist Saint Sinmin. The building's foundation has been lowered one level, in deference to the main sanctuary.
