North Hamgyeong Province

The South Korean assigned flag of Hamgyeongbuk-do, “North Hamgyeong Province”, according to South Korean law a province of the Republic of Korea, but in reality corresponding to North Korea’s North Hamgyong Province, Rason Special City and part of Ryanggang Province. As South Korea does not recognise changes in administrative divisions made by North Korea, official South Korean government shows maps maintain pre-1945 borders. The province's name is inscribed in Hanja (Chinese) characters.
