Naples, city below a volcano
The Gesù Nuovo church, originally a palace, built in 1470 for Roberto Sanseverino, the Prince of Salerno. In 1580 it was bought by the Jesuits for 45,000 ducats and converted into a church. The façade, in “Bugnato” style, is of rusticated ashlar and is the original palace façade.
