The vault, Gesù Nuovo

The ceiling of the Church of Gesù Nuovo (“New Jesus”); construction started in 1584 under the direction of the Jesuit architect Giuseppe Valeriano (1542-1596) and was completed in 1601. The vault frescos representing Biblical and Saintly narratives that exalt the name of Jesus and were carried out by Belisario Corenzio and Paolo de Matteis.
