Imperial Rome, past glory

Imperial Rome

The 1:250 scale model of ancient Rome in the age of Constantine I (306-337) was constructed between 1933 and 1937 by Italo Gismondi and later extended: it is 17 metres across and housed in the Museo della Civiltà Romana (Museum of Roman Civilization). In the foreground is the Mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian 117-138 CE) on the right bank of the Tiber. On the right is the Stadium of Domitian, now the Piazza Navona.
