Imperial Rome, past glory
Trajan's Column, Colonna Traiana, is a Roman triumphal column commemorating Emperor Trajan's victory in the Dacian Wars, 101-102 and 105-106 CE. A 200 metres long continuous frieze moves around the shaft of the column; all the phases of the wars are minutely inscribed here and Trajan himself appears about 60 times. Originally the relief was coloured.
