Carlos Manuel de Céspedes' monument

Monument to Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, known as the Father of Cuba in the Cementerio Santa Ifigenia, flanked by the Cuban flag and the Flag of Yara or Flag of La Demajagu, the flag of Cuban “Independentistas” or pro independence fighters. It was flown at the uprising known as the “Grito de Yara” of 10 October 1868, initiating the 10 Year War. The plinth is inscribed “Tribute from the Provincial Council”.
