Santiago de Cuba, the second-largest Cuban city
The Grecian façade of the Museo Municipal Emilio Bacardí Moreau, founded in 1899 by the rum-magnate war hero and city mayor, Emilio Bacardí y Moreau; the museum is one of Cuba’s oldest and most eclectic, with some absorbing artefacts amassed from Bacardí's travels. Across Calle Francisco Vicente Aguilera is the Provincial Palace of the Government of Santiago de Cuba, designed by the architect and civil engineer Carlos Segrera Fernández and inaugurated on 23 June 1926.
