Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, 1946
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, 1963
Following the end of World War II, the monarchy was abolished and on 29 November 1945, the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia was proclaimed, led by Josip Broz Tito. Its flag was adopted on 31 January 1946: the horizontal triband of blue, white and red, with a gold-bordered red star in the centre, overlapping the blue and red stripes. In 1963 the country’s name was changed to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, but the flag remained unchanged.
