Dancers in the Pujllay Festival of Tarabuco in their elaborate costumes present themselves in the village square and march off to the ceremonial ground. This yearly festival is also connected to the celebration of a battle won over the Spaniards - hence the “Montero” headdress resembling old Spanish helmets and “gallu-gallus”, jangling spurs.
