Miners at work

Miners shovel crushed ore in small rusty rail trucks at the Cerro Rico mine. Although the days of slavery have thankfully come to an end, conditions and techniques within the mines of Cerro Rico haven't changed much, with its poorly lit and inadequately ventilated shafts, temperatures often as high as 40 degrees C.
