Umm al-Qaiwain, the least populous Emirate

 Umm al-Qaiwain fort

The flag of Umm al-Qaiwain flies from the tower of the fort, once home to the emirate's ruler. Built in 1768, it guarded the entrance to the old town, overseeing the sea on one side and the creek on the other. It was seat of government until 1969, became a police station and finally a museum.
