View from a traditional house, that is now the “Sheikh Mohammed Centre of Cultural Understanding” in the restored neighbourhood of Bastakia, once home to wealthy Persian pearl merchants; in the background is the Shia mosque and Dubai Creek. Note the “barjeel”, the wind tower that provided a kind of air conditioning.
