Drums and fifes

Drums and fifes marching past in magnificent costumes, belonging to one of the around 60 “Schutterijen”, clubs from towns and villages in southern Limburg, coming together for a yearly festival in the town of Meerssen near Maastricht. They reenact the traditions of the voluntary city guards of centuries ago.
