Leeuwarden, the Capital of Friesland
The Jacobijnerkerkhof, the churchyard of the Jacobean Church (Jacobijner or Grote Kerk) in Leeuwarden, the largest of the medieval churches in this city. It was built between 1275 and 1310 as part of a Jacobin (Dominican) monastery and was later enlarged. The Gothic building was converted during the Reformation to be a Protestant church and lost its altars and many of the decorations. The church is still used as a Protestant church.
