Bonaire, 1986
Bonaire’s island council adopted a coat of arms in 1986. It is a blue shield with a compass, a ship’s wheel, and a red six-pointed star. It symbolises the sea, the population of Bonaire, coming from the four corners of the world and the original six villages of Bonaire, as on the island’s flag. The crown above the shield expresses the link with the Dutch royal family.
