Netherlands Antilles, 1986
On 1 January 1986, Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles. Its flag, therefore, lost a star but was otherwise unchanged: white, with a horizontal blue stripe, on a vertical red bar, all of the same width. In the centre of the blue band are five white, five-pointed stars, representing the six main islands of Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Sint Maarten.
