Republic of Karakalpakstan, 1992
In 1992 the State emblem of Karakalpakstan was adopted, based on that of Uzbekistan. It features a right-facing Humo, a mythical bird of legends and fables symbolising happiness and love of freedom, with wings outstretched. Enclosed by the Humo's wings is a depiction of the rising sun over mountains: on the left the Ustyurt plateau and on the right, the Amu Darya river flowing from the hills. Twilight rays, in orange, emanate from the sun. This is framed by stems with cotton bolls and ears of wheat, the main wealth of the country. A ribbon, with the Uzbek and Karakalpak flags and country's name at the bottom, binds those together. At the top is a light blue octagon, framed in gold, with a crescent and star.
