Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, 1934
In 1925 the Karakalpak Autonomous Region was formed within the Kazakh Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, an autonomous republic within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). On 20 July 1930 it came directly under the RSFSR. On 20 March 1932 it became the Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the RSFSR. A flag was adopted during the Second Congress of Soviets of the Karakalpak ASSR, 21-25 December 1934. It was described as red, with proportions 1:2 and in the upper hoist in gold letters “RSFSR“ and “Karakalpak ASSR” in Russian and Karakalpak languages. There were variants, with the country’s names written in one line or in two lines, the Russian on top, the Karakalpak (in Latin script) underneath.
