In 1935 the inscription of the abbreviated name in Uzbek Latin script, Өz.Ь.Ş.Ç, was changed as the country’s name in Uzbek, “Özbekiston Ijtimoy Shoro Jumhuriyati” was Russified to “Ozbekiston Sovyet Sotsialistik Respublikasi”, abbreviated as Oz.S.S.R.; “SSR” now also could stand for “Soviet Socialist Republic” rather than “Socialist Soviet Republic”.
