Bukhara: towards the outskirts
The summer palace of the last Emirs of Bukhara, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. It is also known by the name Sitora-i Mokhi-Khossa (Sitorai Moxi Xossa), named after the wife of Nasrullah Khan who built the first summer palace here in the early 19th century. His wife Sitorabony (“star” in Persian) died in childbirth and the ruler decided to immortalise her by naming the palace Sitora-i Mokhi-Khossa, “A Star like the Moon” as he compared her beauty to the moon.
