Andijan, in the eastern Fergana Valley
The 19th-century Jome Madrasah, said to be the only building to survive the 1902 earthquake. It reopened as a working madrasah (an educational institution devoted to advanced studies in the Islamic religious sciences) in the 1990s but was later turned into a museum of local ethnography.
