Edirne, the second major capital of the Ottomans
One of the four minarets, with unusual decoration, of the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, a 15th-century Ottoman mosque, commissioned by Sultan Murat II and built between 1438 and 1447. The mosque was severely damaged by fire in 1732 and by an earthquake in 1748 but was repaired on the order of Sultan Mahmut I.
