The uMhlanga or Reed Dance
The “Bantfwabenkosi”, daughters of King Sobhuza II, distinguished by red “ligwalagwala” (lourie) feathers in their hair, dance the “uMhlanga” or Reed Dance, blowing whistles and brandishing torches, after they threw down their reed bundles in the Royal capital of Lobamba, the residence of the “Ndlovukati” or Queen Mother.
