Commewijne, Suriname's Plantation District
The restored Plantation House in Frederiksburg, a plantation across the Commewijne river, dating from 1760, originally a coffee plantation but switched to cocoa. The abandoned plantation was bought in 1976 by Ton Hagemeijer, and after restoration, it now is a hotel and restaurant.
