Bhaktapur, Nepal’s best-preserved old city
The Bhisindyo Temple (Bhimsen Temple) off Dattatreya Square, a two-floored rectangular pagoda, presumably erected in 1605 CE, although some other sources date it to the 18th century. The temple is devoted to Lord Bhimsen, a god with a red face, angry eyes, and thick dark moustache, the god of trade and commerce. The temple is extraordinarily large in length unlike any other temple in Bhaktapur, with seven pinnacles crowning the top.
