Kachin State
Kachin State is Myanmar's northernmost state with an area of 89,041 km² and a population of almost 1.5 million, of which ethnic Kachin make up half. The capital of the state is Myitkyina. After the Union of Burma constitution was abrogated by General Ne Win's regime in 1962,the Kachin Independence Army has been fighting the government, as recently as 2011. The blue state flag depicts Myanmar’s highest mountain, 5,889 metres high Hkakabo Razi.
