Bago Region
Bago Region, formerly Pegu Division, is located in the southern central part of the country. It has a land area of 39,404 km² and a population of over 5 million. Its capital city is Bago. The flag is blue with the legendary Hintha bird outlined in yellow and the name of the region, “Bago Tain” in Burmese script. According to legend, Bago was founded on the place where a male Hintha bird during a flood landed on a single rock above the floodwaters and let the female stand on his back.
