Throat singing

A performance of Khöömii “throat singing”, accompanied by the Morin khuur, horse-head fiddle, by the Tumen Ekh Song and Dance Ensemble in Ulaanbaatar. In Khöömii (= throat, pharynx) the singer produces more than one pitch at the same time, creating overtones by changing the shape of the resonant cavities of his mouth, voice box and the back of his throat; it almost sounds like whistling.
