Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, 1925
On 12 October 1924, the “Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic” was set up in the Ukrainian zone of Balta, Odessa region, east of the Dniester river. Its flag was adopted the following year: red with, in yellow, a hammer and sickle and the abbreviation of the republic's name in Moldovan (Romanian), in Cyrillic script. It also featured agricultural produce from the region: grain, grapes and corn.
