Nyasaland Protectorate, 1914
In 1907, the British Central African Protectorate was renamed Nyasaland. In 1914, the territory received its new Coat of Arms: a shield, black on top, with a golden sun, separated by a wavy line symbolising Lake Nyasa, white on the bottom, with a leopard standing on Mount Mulanje, Nyasaland’s highest peak. The flag was the British Blue Ensign, with these arms placed on a white disk on the fly.
