Ma-aeseokbuljwasang, the image of the Buddhist God of Mercy, 10 metres high and many centuries old, carved on a rock at Mount Nakga, (“Eyebrow Rock”) behind the Bomunsa temple. It was carved by the chief priests of Bomunsa, Lee Hwa-eung and Bae Seon-ju. The face of the image is square, with a crown on its head, holding a bottle in its hand and sitting on a platform of lotus flowers. It wears a robe on each angled shoulder and a swastika engraved on its breast.
