The Jongmyo Daeje Ceremony, Seoul
Ritual instruments used by the Deungga, the orchestra which plays on the upper terrace during the Jongmyo Jerye ancestral rites: the Pyeongyeong, a frame with 16 jadeite stone bells; the Eo, a wooden percussion instrument in the shape of a tiger with a serrated back, played by running a bamboo whisk across it to mark the ends of sections and the Jeolgo, a drum placed on a wooden box.
