Hwaeomsa Temple, South Jeolla Province
Manjusri, or the Bodhisattva of Great Wisdom, is the chief of the bodhisattvas; it was commissioned by a Buddhist monk named Manhae in 2008. Standing 13 metres high, it is the largest one of its kind in Korea, at Yeongiam Hermitage, burnt down during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, but restored in 1989 by a Buddhist monk named Jongwon.
