Hwaeomsa Temple, South Jeolla Province
The altar of Daeungjeon Hall, the main hall of Hwaeomsa, with a statue of Vairocana, attended by Rocana (the only known Korean example of a Trikaya statue to wear the crown of a Bodhisattva) on the right and Sakyamuni Buddha on the left. The statues were executed by the monks Cheongheon, Yeong-i, Ingyun and Eungwon; Cheongheon and Ingyun were two of the most eminent Buddhist sculptors of the 17th century. All three statues were regilded in 1757.
