Temple grounds

The wonderful buildings of Hwaeomsa, founded in 544 CE by the Indian monk Yeon-gi, who brought the Avatamsaka (Garland) sutra and his mother, a Buddhist nun, from India. He originally built two small buildings and named the temple after the sutra.
