North Jeolla Province (current)

North Jeolla Province in the southwest of South Korea has an emblem representing the enterprising spirit of its inhabitants; the red colour stands for their strong enthusiasm, green for the beautiful scenery and yellow for peace. The dark blue curved line is a stylised representation of the first Han'gul letter of the name and also stands for the waves of the Yellow Sea on its coast. The province's name “Jeollabuk-do” appears here in the old McCune‑Reischauer transcription from Korean into Latin script.
