Seoul Special City, 1996
On 28 October 1996 Seoul Metropolitan City adopted a new emblem, featuring a stylised representation of the first syllable of its name in Korean Han'gul script, and at the same time its mountains, the sun and the Han river; is also looks like a person in a merry mood. This symbolises Seoul as a human-oriented city and was also inspired by two famous paintings from the Joseon dynasty: “Mokmyokcheodon” by “Kyomjae” Cheong son and “Mudong” (dancing boy) by “Tanwon” Kim Hong-do.
