Buddha statue, Mireuksaji

The head of the standing stone Buddha, the main image of Sakyamuni on the temple site at Mireuk-ri, Its facial expression and posture as well as craftsmanship are quite simple and unrefined in contrast to the grandeur of the sculpture itself and the scale of the temple site. The remarkably fairer face colour compared to the other parts of the body gives the statue a mysterious presence.
