Main hall of Bongeunsa

The main hall of Bongeunsa Buddhist temple. Although during the Joseon Dynasty, Buddhism in Korea was repressed, the temple began to be known as Bongeunsa when was reconstructed in 1498 under the patronage of a Joseon Queen. Its name refers to honouring King Seongjong (who had died four years earlier) by praying for his eternal life.
