Arch of Constantine

The Arch of Constantine (Arco di Costantino), a triumphal arch honouring Emperor Constantine after his victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on 28 October, 312. It was dedicated in 315 and it is the latest of the existing triumphal arches in Rome. The arch is 21 metres high, 25.9 metres wide and 7.4 metres deep and heavily decorated with parts of older monuments. In the background is the Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire.
