Florence, the Renaissance city
On the Ponte Vecchio (“Old bridge”) across the Arno, the most famous bridge in Florence, with gold-and silversmith shops on both sides of the street. The upper side of the bridge, known as the Vasariano corridor, was designed by Vasari to link the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace; it is an art gallery today.
