Coat of arms of Haiti
The coat of arms of Haiti, originally designed in 1806, shows six country flags, three on each side, in front of a palm tree and two cannons on a green lawn; in front of the tree is a drum, two bugles, cannon balls, ship anchors and two pieces of chain with a broken link symbolising the broken chain of slavery. Above the palm tree a Phrygian cap is placed as a symbol of freedom. On a white ribbon is displayed the French motto “L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE” (Through unity we find Strength).
